CLEAN EATING… the “C” in G-R-A-C-E and the largest piece of the overall wellness puzzle.
Y’all know what it means to eat clean. Choose minimally processed foods, cut out refined sugars, eat healthy fats, enjoy lean proteins, and a plethora of fruits and veggies.
Think of food has fuel and as medicine. We want our bodies to be full at the cellular level of vitamins and minerals not just full in the belly to the point of misery.
When your gut is unhealthy it effects hormone levels. 95% of serotonin, a hormone that influences mood and GI activity, is produced in our gut. It needs to be protected and replenished. Low serotonin levels can lead to depression which links our gut health to our mental health.
We have to get healthy from the inside out. You can’t outrun a bad diet, and the key to weight loss is really 80% nutrition and 20% exercise.
Clean eating is life…literally.
For the last 6 weeks or so with all the holidays, I was probably at 65% clean and 35% treats. We have to let the pendulum swing, too. We have to have treat days and indulge from time to time. But when we do, we don’t beat ourselves up. We enjoy and get back on track.
